As a Parish Council we are committed to Lymm’s Conservation Area status and fully back Lymm Environment and Heritage Group in flagging up what needs to be done. Thanks to the group for their work into this issue and the presentation that they gave to the Parish Council.
Lymm Parish Council is helping to resolve the issue of road closures with support from Warrington Borough Council. Much of the funding for this area has been withdrawn and after negotiation, the Parish Council has come up with an agreement that will see the costs for all road closures for all the events in the village funded.
The Parish Council feels strongly that events such as the Lymm Festival, the Duck Race and Transport Day attract additional revenue into the area and most importantly, a good will feel of what is so positive about living in this Village. Dickensian Day, Rushbearing , May Queen and Carols Round The Cross are all important events in the calendar and the Councillors are committed to supporting these wonderful occasions.
Lymm Parish is encouraging the use of redundant telephone boxes as book exchanges. We are currently looking at another site at the corner of Sandy Lane and Hopefield Road, this has been suggested by a local resident who is committed to the scheme.
We are moving forward on the Green Gym – funding has been applied for – fingers crossed.
Hopefully the repair of the railings around the Lower Dam will soon be sorted – quotes have gone out and this should be sorted if not in time for the Duck Race then definitely by May Queen in June.
Speaking of the Duck Race – can we encourage everyone to attend on Easter Monday and hopefully thoroughly enjoy yourselves, whilst sponsoring and supporting good causes. The Parish Council is once again sponsoring a ‘Super Duck’!
The lighting along the canal path at the rear of the Golden Fleece is progressing – more of this next time.
